iEARN-USA staff members, Dina Guirguis, Christine McCaleb and Julia Heitner, traveled to Washington D.C. to take part in the Alliance for International Exchange Advocacy Day on March 9, 2017. Advocacy Day is an opportunity for members of the Alliance, a diverse group of organizations that provide opportunities for international exchange, to come together to meet with Members of Congress and share about the value of exchanges in their respective districts and states. 

On March 8, iEARN-USA team members attended workshops on issues facing the future of international exchange and engaged with colleagues from other Alliance organizations and iEARN partner organizations. Beginning in the morning on March 9, they traveled to Capitol Hill to meet with staff members from Congressional offices representing Arizona, California, New Jersey, New York and North Carolina, sharing about iEARN's programs and the impact of international exchange. In all, Alliance members met with more than 150 congressional offices on Advocacy Day.
