What's it All About?

Are you interested in participating in a virtual exchange but not sure how to go about it? Have you tried a virtual exchange but it fell flat? Either way, this workshop on strategies for engaging in a meaningful virtual exchange is for you! Boasting greater flexibility and accessibility than traditional physical exchanges, virtual exchanges are a great avenue for incorporating cross-cultural experiences and global competence in the classroom. But how do you go about facilitating them and what happens after hello? In this workshop, educators will be introduced to what a virtual exchange entails, its benefits, and what makes a strong exchange partnership. Educators will also build their competence in facilitating virtual exchanges, exploring strategies for effective online communication and collaboration and what happens before, during, and after an effective exchange.

What You'll Learn

By completing this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Explain what virtual exchange is, along with its benefits
• Identify elements of a strong, respectful, and mutually beneficial virtual exchange partnership
• Apply tips and strategies for effective online communication and collaboration and preparing, engaging, and supporting students throughout a virtual exchange
