SEL in the Global Classroom

What's it All About?

Are your students struggling socially and emotionally as they transition back to the classroom and deal with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic? Are you interested in learning how you can develop your students' social and emotional skills alongside their global competence? In this interactive workshop, educators will learn what Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is, how it is beneficial, and the connection between SEL and global competence. Educators will explore this connection through learning practical strategies and participating in hands-on activities, leaving the workshop with concrete tips, resources, and ideas for developing students’ social, emotional, and global competence and embedding globally-focused SEL practices within their instruction.

What You'll Learn

By completing this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain what Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is along with its benefits 
  • Recognize the connections between social, emotional, and global competence 
  • Apply tips, strategies, and resources for developing students’ social, emotional, and global competence and embedding globally-focused SEL practices in their instruction

Format: Interactive virtual workshop — offered on the date(s) listed below to any educator and as a customized workshop for individual schools/districts.
