Study Abroad

Giving Students the Experience of a Lifetime Here and Abroad

Our study abroad scholarship programs provide students with immersive language-learning and cultural experiences in the United States and abroad, with the goal of equipping them with the critical skills needed to become leaders of the future.

These programs have profound lifelong impacts on the participants and contribute to the U.S. Department of State’s critical people-to-people diplomacy efforts.

iEARN-USA is proud to partner with American Councils for International Exchange and the U.S. Department of State on the following two programs:

The U.S. Department of State’s National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) provides merit-based scholarships for eligible high school students and recent high school graduates to learn less commonly taught languages in summer and academic-year overseas immersion programs. iEARN-USA has been implementing the NSLI-Y program since 2009 with summer programs in India, Morocco, South Korea, and Taiwan and academic-year programs in South Korea and Taiwan.

The U.S. Department of State, along with the Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs (ECA), fund and sponsor the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program, which provides scholarships for high school students from countries with significant Muslim populations to spend up to one academic year in the United States. iEARN-USA is currently responsible for the recruitment of students from Arab-Israel, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Liberia, Mali, Pakistan Sierra Leone, and Suriname.
