The following reflection was written by Flynn and Alyna, sixth-grade students in iEARN-USA Educator Greg Reiva’s Science Earth Science class at St. Thomas the Apostle School in Illinois, U.S. They reflect on their class’s participation in the iEARN Earth Stewardship and Water is Life projects, as well as the impact of COVID-19 on them and their communities.

In collaboration with various partner organizations, iEARN-USA helps implement the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program. The NSLI-Y program, funded by the U.S. Department of State, provides scholarships for secondary school students from the United States to spend a summer or academic year in another country learning critical languages. One student, Hassane, wrote about how his identity informed and enhanced his experience as a NSLI-Y student on iEARN-USA’s summer Chinese program in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

iEARN-USA hosted the May 2020 iEARN Virtual Project Exhibition on Thursday, May 21.

In spring 2020, iEARN-USA hosted a webinar series called "Wednesdays with the World" for teachers to use virtually with their classes.

As the coronavirus continues to impact our communities, we’re committed to supporting our international community of K-12 educators and youth to collaborate and learn together on projects designed to make a difference in the world. Now more than ever, it is important to focus on our shared purpose of improving the quality of life on our planet.

iEARN has been featured as one of the top 16 innovative models of education in the World Economic Forum’s January 2020 “Schools of the Future: Defining New Models of Education for the Fourth Industrial Revolution†Report.

The iEARN Virtual Project Exhibition on December 12th was a great success, bringing together 45 students and 14 educators from 6 countries, who presented on 10 iEARN projects.

iEARN-USA is excited to announce that it will be conducting the Our Voices, Our World pilot project in the beginning of 2020.
