World events show us how necessary it is to add situations that foster design thinking and encourage solving real-world problems that affect various fields into daily classroom lessons. The word engineering was not heard as frequently in the school environment as it is today. As part of the STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, art and mathematics) concept, it recently started to have a greater presence in our classrooms.
As a result, STREAM initiatives and projects began to spread more widely.
Design Squad Latinx is a program collaboratively designed by iEARN-USA, GBH and iEARN Orillas and sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). This program includes a variety of engineering challenges, or activities, in both English and Spanish to get kids (primarily ages 10-13) excited about engineering and to motivate Latinx students to consider engineering fields as professional studies in their future.

The Design Squad Latinx (DSL) pilot has been completed! DSL is a collaborative project between GBH and iEARN-USA. Working with iEARN Orillas, two schools in Puerto Rico had the opportunity to test newly designed DSL activities and materials and finished the pilot project in April.
The 2022 Virtual Project Exhibition on May 19 showcased outstanding project work, collaboration, and outcomes of iEARN K-12 classrooms around the world!

How Students Develop Global Competencies Through the Vision and Passion of Their Teachers
The International Education and Resource Network (iEARN-USA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine Allison, Cathy Healy, Lisa Jobson, Teresa Kennedy, Jesse Lee,Camilla Modisett, and Ann Tollefson to the new and relaunched iEARN-USA Advisory Council.
For our Inaugural Virtual 5k Race, we honor the memory and legacy of the late Dr. Tonya S. Muro, iEARN-USA’s Executive Director from January 1, 2016, until March 5, 2018. We race for students learning apart and educators feeling disconnected from their classrooms. Join us as we celebrate Dr. Tonya S. Muro and her passion in student’s international learning experience.
On May 20, 2021, iEARN-USA will host the Virtual Project Exhibition (VPE) to showcase the inspiring project work and outcomes achieved by iEARN classrooms around the world.
The longstanding Holiday Card Exchange project engages students to gain a deeper understanding of other countries’ cultures and traditions. Classes are grouped with approximately seven other classes in other countries to send cards that commemorate their local holidays and traditions between October and December, including Chinese New Year, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Eid.
The iEARN 2021 Virtual Project Exhibition on January 28th was a great success and a vibrant celebration of global collaboration! The Virtual Project Exhibition (VPE) is a showcase of the work and outcomes of educators and students around the world who completed iEARN projects. This exciting event provides iEARN students’ with an opportunity to share their project work outside of the classroom and present their final products and reflections to a global audience.
Using iEARN Projects like #GirlsRising, the Ramona Model UN found victory in the UNHCR Refugee Challenge! The team chose to address access to education for refugees as an extension of their iEARN Project "Be Kind, Don't Leave Them Behind." Click to read the entire article!

In August 2020, iEARN-USA implemented a virtual Digital Storytelling Workshop through the Steven's Initiative.
In collaboration with the YES program, iEARN-USA implemented a Crip Camp Workshop from August 17-21.
