Snapshots of Exemplary Integrated Programs

Ccssbook

iEARN featured in new Common Core State Standards Edition of Susan M. Drake's, "Creating Standards-Based Integrated Curriculum" book.

Drake applies the essential principles of standards-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment to today's unique challenges.  Focusing on multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches, she provides guidance on unpacking the Common Core State Standards, Planning assessment tasks, designing instructional activities, developing daily activities, and helping students connect essential questions to enduring understandings.

Along with five other examples, iEARN is featured in a chapter on exemplary integrated curricula, which gives a shapshot from Miami Country Day School in Miami Florida, where iEARN educator Rowena Gerber runs a project called the Solar Cooking Project.  As Rowena explains in the book,

"I like to think of our program as one of the best child-centered-solution-oriented-collaborative-authentic-inquiry based-creative-multiple intelligence-problem based-project based-21st century skills, STEM, supportive curriculums out there.  It happens every day for every child...making learning irresistible."
