iEARN-USA is the national member of iEARN (International Education and Resource Network), the leading non-profit global educational network (130 countries) supporting educators and students to use the Internet and other technologies to collaborate on educational projects that enhance learning and make a difference in the world. iEARN-USA is seeking a full-time Technology Director who wants to be a part of a global team committed to building a more peaceful and just world and who would like to play a key role in enabling young people worldwide to engage in collaborative projects using various connective technologies.

The Technology Director will be responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the primary websites and technology strategies of iEARN, and must have a demonstrated expertise in Web content, usability, architecture, development and design. The Technology Director will provide leadership and guidance for iEARN-USA’s new directions in technology, including mobile technologies, by analyzing, recommending, creating and implementing a wide variety of strategic technology solutions appropriate to specific needs in iEARN. The Technology Director will foster effective relationships with a diversity of stakeholders, including users, funders, partner organizations, and vendors to create and execute on technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership by recommending, designing, improving and implementing technology and digital media solutions for iEARN;
• Oversee ongoing redesign, improvements, and maintenance on iEARN-USA’s websites, primarily collaborate.iearn.org, www.iearn.org, us.iearn.org;
• Lead the prioritization, planning, and implementation of technology and digital media initiatives to ensure timely and accurate completion;
• Act as primary liaison between end users, program staff, and external contractors and vendors on issues related to iEARN’s web design and development;
• Partner with internal and external content managers, editors, designers, developers, and other staff to ensure sites meet user needs and align with iEARN’s brand and communication strategies;
• Market and present iEARN’s web and digital strategies to diverse audiences, manage multiple projects and maintain schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in a professional, deadline-driven, dynamic environment
• Excellent web/digital media project management skills and experience;
• An engaging and collaborative leadership style with mature interpersonal skills and the ability to juggle and manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines;
• Experience with software-as-a-service (SaaS) and cloud computing technologies, special user provisioning and single sign-on; analysis of usage and trends, and security issues;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess a situation quickly from an objective point of view and facilitate a resolution;
• Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and pro-actively in written and verbal forms;
• Ability to accommodate minimal travel requirements;
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred.

Required, advanced knowledge of the following:

• HTML, CSS, MySQL, JavaScript, SEO, Web Server Administration
• Adobe suite: Photoshop, Illustrator
• Experience with popular Content Management Systems (Drupal, WordPress, Salesforce, etc.)

Salary level: Commensurate with experience

Benefits: iEARN-USA will pay for:

– Four weeks of vacation following three month review, with timing to be done with iEARN executive staff
– Medical health and dental insurance for employee, with family members able to participate in policies at personal expense
– Contribution to 403b plan for employee after one year of employment
