NEW YORK, March 27, 2013 – iEARN-USA, a nonprofit organization that connects educators and youth worldwide to learn and collaborate together using technology, is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Rosenblum as its next Executive Director. Rosenblum will assume the role on May 1, and succeeds Lisa Jobson, who will be moving to the Bay Area as iEARN-USA’s Chief Program Officer.

Rosenblum, 52, a former journalist with broad international experience, comes to iEARN-USA from Japan Society, a cultural nonprofit in New York focused on U.S.-Japan relations. At the Society, he helped create and launch the U.S.-Japan Innovators Network, a multi-disciplinary network of emerging and established social entrepreneurs, business people, artists, educators and other leaders from Japan and the United States committed to creating a better world. Network exchanges in the U.S. and Japan explored issues such as community revitalization, building essential skills for social innovators, new models for entrepreneurialism, crisis management and natural disaster recovery, and the role of play in fostering creativity and innovation.
As Vice President of External Relations at Japan Society, Rosenblum directed annual fundraising operations of $6 million, and was responsible communications, new media, board management and strategic planning for the organization. In his 14-year career at Japan Society he also led its business and policy programs, developing the Society’s corporate membership program into one of the most respected and well-supported in the country.
Before joining the Society, Rosenblum worked as a journalist for 16 years, including 13 years as a financial correspondent and television producer with Reuters in Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Washington and New York. He has traveled extensively throughout Asia. A graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio, he holds a BA in Japanese language and literature. Rosenblum spent his first 12 years abroad, living in Mexico City and Tokyo, where he attended the Nishimachi International School. He is an award-winning fiction writer and has published his works in numerous literary magazines as well as online. He currently lives in Montclair, New Jersey with his wife, Tamima Friedman, and two daughters, Beryl and Hannah.
