iEARN Online Educators Course – Now open to all!

iEARN-USA is opening its Online Educator Course for Online Collaboration and Global Projects to all educators in the network for Fall 2018! Read on for information on course description and fees.

iEARN online courses play a key role in supporting educators to become global education leaders. They create a professional learning community, provide support, and guide educators in integrating virtual exchange projects into their curriculum. When iEARN educators meet, connect, and learn from other educators in the network, they become engaged in a community of global changemakers and support one another in globalizing their classrooms.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

In the Fall 2018 Online Educators Course, participants will learn about global project-based learning with iEARN, prepare to participate in a virtual exchange project with their class, and collaborate with other teachers from around the world. Following the online course, participants will select an iEARN project, participate in an exchange with their class, and reflect on their virtual exchange experience.

COURSE GOALS:

After completing this course, teachers will be able to:

  • Identify the benefits of international collaboration and global project work
  • Integrate collaborative project-based learning into their teaching practice while addressing local/national educational standards
  • Prepare students for online cross-cultural communication and global project work
  • Participate in a facilitated first project experience and engage students in collaborative learning
  • Network with educators in the course and around the world

COURSE FEE: $400 USD*

COURSE DATES: September 24th – November 18th

WELCOME WEBINAR: September 19th

COURSE STRUCTURE AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Every Week: Coursework, Asynchronous communication and discussion (~2 hours)
  • Every Other Week: Student preparation activity, synchronous video conference (1 hour each)
  • Technology Requirements: internet connection, access to iEARN’s Collaboration Centre, computer with microphone and webcam (preferred)
