iEARN-USA is able to offer its core online course program at low cost to educators through the generous support of funders and partners, including the Longview Foundation, Copen Family Fund, US State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.

Additional Course Partnerships

In addition to our core course offerings, iEARN-USA frequently partners with leading content providers, software companies, and educational institutions and organizations to develop high quality online courses related to different topics and skills.  Below are some examples.

“Teacher Education for the 21st century,” Online Course for University Faculty, in partnership with the Organization of American States (OAS)

oasThrough a partnership with the Department of Education and Culture of the Organization of American States (OAS), iEARN-USA and iEARN-Argentina developed and facilitated a series of English and Spanish-language courses for University faculty in Caribbean countries on how to prepare their students to be 21st century teachers using the Internet and Web 2.0 tools. University faculty taking the English language course are from Jamaica, Suriname, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Participants in the Spanish language course are from Dominican Republic, Chile and Argentina. To date, approximately 160 participants have been enrolled in 6 course sessions.

“I expected to learn innovative ways of using technology to enhance teaching and learning,” noted an education instructor in Guyana. “But this course exceeded my expectation. It has opened up for me a 'whole new world' one that I will definitely share with all my colleagues and students.”

Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) Online Course, in partnership with Adobe, Inc and EDC (the Educational Development Center)

adobe youth voicesAdobe Youth Voices is Adobe's a global philanthropic initiative that empowers youth worldwide to comment on their world using multimedia and digital tools to communicate and share their ideas, demonstrate their potential, and take action in their communities. Through a partnership with Adobe, Inc and EDC, iEARN-USA is coordinating an expansion initiative to involve educators in AYV from Argentina, Bahrain, Belarus, Botswana, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, India, Japan, Oman, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Turkey, UAE, Uganda, and the USA. The AYV online course is designed to build educators' knowledge and skills to create media with young people. Example topics covered in this course include media forms and formats; process product and presentation; community collaboration and exhibition, and technical skills necessary to use Adobe media making software. Approximately 300 educators have been enrolled in 10 course sessions.

Fulbright Teacher Exchange Online Course, in partnership with Academy for Educational Development (AED) and the Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) Office of the U.S. Department of State

fulbrightiEARN-USA is pleased to partner with the Academy for Educational Development (AED) to implement the Educational and Cultural Affair (ECA) Office of Global Educational Programs’ Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchanges and the Distinguished Fulbright Awards in Teaching. To support the Fulbright programs, iEARN is creating an online professional development course which participants take pre-arrival on how to teach cross-culturally, contributing to the creation of a pre-established community.
