Teacher Profile - Uzbekistan

You finally get a computer lab in your school, one of the first in your district. What do you do with it? Of course participate in iEARN projects. That is what School 11 in the Ferghana Region of Uzbekistan did. Only they did not have an Internet connection. The teacher had to go 20 KM to the nearest access. This did not dampen their enthusiasm. Rustam Badalov did not let this inconvenience keep him and his students from making a difference through iEARN.

HELLO, DEAR FRIENDS!

I am writing you on behalf of school #11, which is situated in Ferghana region, Tashlak district.

Now, my students and me are very glad with our success, because our school became a winner of the Project .Computers for Uzbek Schools. which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and administered by IREX. The first stage of this Project is finished and more than 100 Uzbek schools have got modern computer classes.

My students and me are very thankful to the US Government, which gave us the opportunity to participate in this Project. We are thankful to USAID and IREX for project Computers for Uzbek Schools and for computer class which was gifted! We will do all best to come up to projects expectations and build a sustanable computer center in our village. Will make it fully avalable for school students and teachers and also for people from outside of our school.

Beginning from 2002, pupils from school #11 participate in IATP seminars and trainings. We participate in iEARN projects. Through the internet we cooperate with pupils from US, India, Japan, Iran, Germany, Holland, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ghana and etc. We look forward and will be very happy to see you in our school one day.I am sorry for my non visit to our forums, because sometimes we had not any connectivity in Ferghana IATP Centre, and from the 20th of September to 15th of November all rural schools were mobilized to pick cotton and we returned from the "Cotton pick company" on the 15th of November. And I don't know, Do You know about our "Cotton pick Company" or not? (On the "Cotton pick company" time all schools and colleges in rural places closed and all teachers, students mobilized to pick cotton.) For this discomfort I am in debt in the face of iEARN and I'll do what I have planned for iEARN in my rural district and in our Ferghana Valley which has 5 regions. There are 2000 schools of Uzbekistan and about 1000 schools of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in Ferghana Valley. Development and consolidation iEARN acts, teachers training and seminars for iEARN Projects and a strong friendship are my goals!

All my hits and achievements connected with iEARN. Thanks to iEARN and our labours we became the winners of the projects Computers for Uzbek Schools and School Connectivity for Uzbekistan.

I never realize my life, education and work can be so valuable until I have the privilege to keep in touch with iEARN. I used to regard myself as merely an ordinary teacher, but now I begin to see myself in a different direction.

I have understood about iEARN spirit and more confidence in standing up for what I deeply believe, it is my debt as a teacher to convey good will to every pupil I have met, educated or taught. Several words about our project Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten which is our favourite project. Now we are preparing presentation of this project which we'll finished in January, 2004. We are planning to send you the presentation of the project. Next message will be soon with pictures.

Best wishes: Rustamjon Badalov.
