Peter Copen, Founder of iEARN, Shares His Reflection of 20 Years of iEARN
Dearest Friends in iEARN:
I
was asked to share my feelings on the 20th birthday of iEARN. My
feelings are clear and simple: Awe and Gratitude. It didn't seem
possible then in 1988. It was only an idea. It was only a dream. A
dream to do something, anything, to have children and teachers know
each other as human beings and find a way to avoid war and violence and
relieve suffering for people and the planet. I am in awe of how it has
succeeded. And I am so deeply grateful for the people (and the unseen
forces of "good") that made it happen -- people who shared the same
dream -- people who resonated to the vibrations of the same guitar.
We
have come a long way in 20 years. And we still have a long way to go.
But there is power in numbers. And the number of voices of youth and
their teachers that iEARN (and others) can bring together is as yet
untapped.
That is for the next 20 years. The strings of the guitar can grow to a
symphony. A symphony that will touch the hearts, minds and actions of
all those who want a better world for all people and the planet. Let's
just do it.
With Peace, Light and Love,

Your friend,
Peter Copen
