Kristin McKeown

Kristin McKeown is the General Counsel of the Northeast Power Coordinating Council, Inc., a New York not for profit organization where she is responsible for overseeing corporate legal risk analysis and mitigation activities, strategic planning, and providing legal guidance to the executive team and the Board. During her tenure, she was instrumental in representing the company’s interests in regulatory matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy.

Prior to joining NPCC, Kristin was an Attorney in the Office of Enforcement and a Supervisor in the Office of Electric Reliability at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington, DC. Her experience also includes power trading compliance at BP Energy Company in Stamford, CT and as an Associate in the Energy Practice Group at Bracewell & Giuliani in Washington, DC.  Additionally, she was an awarded a Presidential Management Fellowship in 2003 where she became part of a team at the Social Security Administration that negotiated two totalization agreements to combine workers’ social security credits with Denmark and the Czech Republic.

Kristin earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law with honors where she was a Miami Scholar, a HOPE Fellow (Helping Others through Pro bono Efforts) and James Weldon Johnson Fellow, and her Bachelors of Arts degree from Rutgers University-New Brunswick where she also studied abroad at the University College London and the University of Guadalajara, Mexico.  Kristin is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and Washington DC and is a member of the Energy Bar Association, Women’s Council on Energy and the Environment, and the New York Association of Energy Economics.
